GEOS 111 - At Home in the Critical ZoneFC NSMA QFR 4 credits An introduction to dynamic interactions between the atmosphere, ecosystems, water, soils and rock that define Earth’s life supporting outer layer. We will learn about the processes at work within this “Critical Zone” and untangle how human activity can alter natural interconnected systems. Field investigations and labs will give students the chance to practice hands-on geoscience skills while learning how to interpret real, often messy, data. Field trip(s) required.
This course is appropriate for new students.
