ARTH 151 - Approaches to Modern ArchitectureFC ARHU 4 credits This course offers a global survey of modern architectural history from 1500 to the present. Students will explore “modern architecture” as not only a set of aesthetic objects, but also as structures of thinking and episodes of cultural exchanges. The course introduces a wide array of thematic lenses, including religion, technology, gender/sexuality, politics, and affect, to help students develop their own ways to spatialize and periodize modern architectural history beyond conventional Eurocentric narratives.
This course is appropriate for new students.
