COMP 151 - Intermediate Composition for Non-MajorsFC CNDP 4 credits This intermediate course in acoustic composition is intended for students with proficiency in composition who wish to advance their compositional skill. Through score study, weekly listening and discussion, and the creation of an 8-minute work for three or four instruments, students will further their understanding of acoustic composition in an intensive space while continuing to nurture their musical perspectives and artistic choices. Students will engage with various aesthetic topics through the act of composing, such as music-making techniques, stylistic control, meaningful generation and development of ideas, and an awareness of influences on the creative process. Students interested in taking this course must first present a portfolio of 2-3 works to the instructor of the course.
