FYSP 161 - Museum Game DesignFC NSMA WINT 4 credits What do museums and games have in common? How can we encourage curiosity and connection with artwork? Most importantly, how do we create opportunities to have fun? Over the semester, student teams will design games inspired by artwork from the Allen Memorial Art Museum. We will draw from Human-Centered Design and Museum Studies to think critically about games as social technologies. No programming experience needed; student teams will create non-digital games with pencil, paper, and human facilitators. As a writing-intensive course, assignments include revising game materials and exchanging feedback. The course concludes with a Museum Game Festival and presentations.
