TECH 213 - Sonic Coding

In this course, students will develop real-time interactive systems for composition and performance using the media programming language Max. No experience with coding (in Max or other programming languages) is expected. Through a sequence of hands-on assignments students will gain experience with basic programming, sampling, sound synthesis, digital signal processing, MIDI control, human-computer interaction, graphical user interface design, and algorithmic/generative systems. These assignments are accompanied by a survey of relevant interactive artworks, assigned readings, and in-class discussions.
