TECH 351 - Advanced Analog SynthesisFC CNDP 4 credits This course provides a deeper understanding of analog synthesis through the collection of synthesizers housed in the TIMARA Analog Synth Studio: Buchla 100/200 modules, ARP2600, Putney VCS3, ElectroComp EML200, Korg MS10, Multimoog, and others. Researching the development and repertoire of these instruments will highlight important milestones in the history of electronic music. The course will cover the tools of analog synthesizers, including: waveforms, additive and subtractive synthesis, oscillators, modulators, filters, envelopes, sequencers, and so on. Class activities will involve reading, listening, creating patch diagrams, and composing. Practical assignments, including the final project, will be both technical and creative.
