TECH 352 - Digital Signal Processing for Electronic Musicians

FC CNDP
4 credits
This course first introduces the mathematical and practical foundations behind contemporary digital audio technologies. Some experience with programming and mathematics is expected. Students study key DSP concepts including time and frequency domains, convolution, filter design, LTI systems, and Fourier transforms through exercises using pen-and-paper and scientific programming languages. The second half of the course then shifts to creative applications of DSP: building instruments, algorithm implementations, or plug-ins that support or extend students’ artistic work using Max, gen~, JUCE, and related audio programming environments.
