TECH 356 - Spatial Sound DesignFC CNDP 4 credits This course explores spatialized sonic environment design in the context of electronic music composition. Foundational knowledge of electronic music is expected. Through applied projects focusing on stereo spatialization techniques, collaborative multi-channel audio recordings, performing spatial sound diffusion, ambisonics, and Dolby Atmos rendering, class participants will become familiar and comfortable with state-of-the-art tools and techniques for organizing sound in space. This course will take advantage of the multi-channel sound diffusion environment available in the TIMARA studios in addition to contextualizing readings, listenings, and theories around spatialized sound and its use within creative sound practices.
