TECH 452 - Audio-Visual Composition

This course explores how electronic musicians may integrate visuals into their creative practice. No experience with visual art is required, but an established musical practice is expected. Through readings, historical examples, and hands-on projects, students study film, animation, video art, and multimedia theory to understand relationships between sound and image. Hands-on projects that ask students to craft these different relationships utilize tools including DaVinci Resolve, Max, Processing, TouchDesigner, and more. The course culminates in the production of an original audio-visual work that expands each student’s artistic praxis.
