ECON 408 - Seminar: Firms in Poor Countries

FC NSMA QFR WADV
4 credits
This seminar is about private firms in poor countries. We will discuss issues firms around the world grapple with, but that can be especially important in this context. In particular, we will examine labor and capital markets, information frictions, (in-)formality, and the relationship to the state. We will also consider international factors, such as multinational corporations and foreign financial flows. Students will write and present an original economics research paper.

Prerequisites: ECON 253 and ECON 255.
