This interdisciplinary seminar discusses the millions of unclassified species, from deep-sea lifeforms living on extreme conditions to space-faring bacteria, that redefine biological limits and how many species remain hidden in what is defined as “Dark Matter of Life”. By bridging sciences with art, students analyze how hidden organisms challenge scientific methodologies, inspire cultural shifts, and force a philosophical rethinking of the environment. Through the lens of DNA and the missing catalog of nature, this course invites students to embrace the unknown and rethink our place in the universe.
