HIST 356 - The British Empire in Asia and Africa 3 SS, CD, WR Second Semester. Examines origins and development of British imperialism in Britain, India, China, and Africa, from the 17th through the 20th centuries. Common readings and individual research projects explore issues including: What changes within Britain, Asia, and Africa led to their incorporation within the Empire? What resulted from their interactions? What forces culminated in the disintegration of the Empire? Finally, what were the legacies of the Empire for Britain and the former Asian and African colonies?
