Composition Department Curriculum

Principal Private Study: 6 or 8 credits

(May be repeated for credit)

Students beginning Principal Private Composition study in the Conservatory must have completed the four-semester sequence of composition classes (COMP 201, COMP 202, COMP 301, and 302). Upon completion of that course sequence, they will be eligible for principal private study in Composition. Transfer students are assigned to the composition sequence based on audition and transfer of credits.

Secondary Private Study: 2 Credits

(May be repeated for credit)

Students may pursue Secondary Private Composition study only with the recommendation of the department and approval of the Office of the Associate Dean. This course is available to non-Composition majors in either the Conservatory of Music or the College of Arts and Sciences.
