Russian and East European Studies Minor


The minor consists of a minimum of 5 full courses (or the equivalent).

Note: Students must earn minimum grades of C- or P for all courses that apply toward the minor.

Summary of Requirements


A minimum of 5 full courses from the approved minor electives listed below or from approved study abroad programs in Russia and Eastern Europe. At least two of these courses must be in the Social Sciences (EAS, History, Politics, Sociology). No more than one full course can be derived from basic language courses (100-level) or a semester of intensive language study in a REES-approved program. At least two courses must be above the 100-level and completed at Oberlin.

Other courses besides those listed below that address the region in a substantive way (including courses taken on accredited programs abroad) may also count toward the minor, upon approval by the REES Committee or REES Chair.
