Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is accredited by International Accreditation of Counseling Services (IACS) and provides confidential support including individual therapy, couple’s therapy, psychiatry, group therapy, and workshops/outreach to students as they pursue their academic and personal goals, and strives to enhance the quality of each student’s experience at Oberlin. While session limits pertain to individual and couple’s work, other resources such as groups are unlimited. CAPS also provides case management for students who are interested or require referrals to providers and community resources, including ThrivingCampus. ThrivingCampus is an online directory that connects students with mental-health providers across the U.S., including Ohio, and Oberlin for in-person or telehealth sessions. There are no additional charges for CAPS services, although students are responsible for the cost of any external services. CAPS also provides daily walk-in hours Monday through Friday, 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m.
Oberlin students also have access to private, secure, and confidential teletherapy services via Uwill, which is a service provided at no cost to students. Students choose a therapist based on their preferences including gender, language, ethnicity, and focus area, and select a time that fits their schedule throughout the year. Students have further access to after-hours support via the confidential, professionally-staffed phone line (855) 256-7160. Mental health support is also available via Campus Safety.
