THEA 252 - Foundations of TheaterFC ARHU 4 credits A lecture course tracing the links between theater and ritual performance from the earliest human civilizations through Elizabethan England. We will focus on theatrical texts, performances spaces, and theoretical treatises from various world cultures. European, Egyptian, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Hopi, and Mayan performances will be studied in relation to the social and intellectual history of each major era and culture. This course is appropriate for new students.
