THEA 315 - Acting III: Black and Brown PlaywrightsFC ARHU CD 4 credits In this class, we will work on and explore scenes written by African-American and Latino playwrights such as Lynn Knottage, August Wilson, Suzanne Lori-Parks, Jose Rivera, Ntozake Shange, Nilo Cruz, and Alice Childress. While staging scenes, students will develop their method of acting, as well as discuss the issue of cultural awareness on the actor’s process specifically, what role race and culture play in the shaping of character and relationship. Student assignments include reading plays, writing in a journal, as well as reading plays, writing in a journal, as well as performing scenes. Prerequisites & Notes: THEA 200.
