FREN 428 - La décolonisation du corps fémininFC ARHU CD 4 credits Through literary and visual analysis, this course explores the impacts of colonialism and gendered racism throughout French History. From political activist Olympe de Gouges publishing Le droit de la femme et de la citoyenne (1791), challenging gender inequality in France, to Mariama Ba and Ananda Devi articulating the intimate experience of violence against women in post-colonial societies, women writers have raised awareness to an ongoing struggle, while fostering visions of change. Prerequisites & Notes: Two 300-Level courses beyond 301.
