CRWR 285 - Strangeness and SurpriseFC ARHU WINT 4 credits Poems are strange things. Whether free or formal, they emerge when unnatural patterns or limits (such as lines, meters, rhyme-schemes) are imposed on language. They can surprise, delight, estrange, or surprise readers. Students will study examples of poetic innovation, oddity, and weirdness, and through their own writing will explore and practice techniques for refreshing and renewing poetic speech.
