LATN 209 - Petronius and Apuleius: The Latin Novel IFC ARHU CD 4 credits In this course we will study two Latin novels, Petronius’ Satyricon and Apuleius’ Metamorphoses (better known as ‘The Golden Ass’). We will engage the complex stylistics of the Latin, as well as the critical tradition concerning the genre of the novel in general, and the ancient novel in particular.
Course meets concurrently with LATN 309. Intermediate students should enroll in LATN 209; advanced students should enroll in LATN 309. Course requirements will differ according to level. Prerequisites & Notes: LATN 102 or equivalent
