POLT 373 - The U.S. Supreme CourtFC SSCI QFR WADV 4 credits This is an advanced seminar on the U.S. Supreme Court. The central focus of this seminar is systematic exploration of the Supreme Court by engaging the leading academic literature in the field. How do Supreme Court justices make decisions? Are decisions based on legal and jurisprudential considerations or are they motivated by the ideological proclivities of justices? Seminar participants will engage in informed discussion and produce a major research paper with theoretical and empirical components. Prerequisites & Notes: One course in American politics
