ARST 112 - Introduction to Color in Context

In this course students will acquire increased awareness of the properties of color - hue, chroma, value - and how their formal elements, including placement and design qualities, give meaning and content to works of art. Projects will explore how color operates in public, social, historical, and political contexts. Students will work in mediums including (but not limited to) gouache, acrylic, collage, and digital imaging software (i.e. Photoshop). Students will explore and develop awareness about design elements through pattern, repetition, line, figure/ground relationships. Field trips required.
Prerequisites & Notes: Preference will be given to students who have taken ARST 110 / ARTS 040.
