MUTH 261 - PolyphoniesFC CNDP PT 4 credits Exploration of traditional and contemporary polyphonic musics, with a focus on techniques of combining independent voices. Repertoire is drawn from pretonal, tonal, post-tonal, and extra-canonical sources. Topics include imitative polyphonies, traditional drone polyphonies, ostinato polyphonies and polyrhythms, and post-tonal polyphonic techniques illustrated through 20th- and 21st-century choral works.
