JWST 335 - Seminar: Crusades - Contact and Conflict in the Mediterranean World
FCSSCICDWADV4 credits This research seminar examines the European Crusades that took place between 1050 and 1450 in the eastern Mediterranean, the Iberian peninsula, France, and Germany. Using a wide range of sources from different religious, political, social, and economic viewpoints, students will learn what was at stake for the various player involved, from high-born armed pilgrims to merchants and moneylenders, and how the Crusades shaped European identity for centuries to come.
