PHIL 122 - Problems in Philosophy

FC ARHU WINT
4 credits
This course engages with abiding philosophical problems, ones that have stimulated debate throughout the history of philosophy and continue to stimulate debate today. In confronting these problems, we uncover some of our most basic assumptions about value, the nature of things, and the self in relation to others. What is reality and how do we know what is real? What does it mean to be free? How can we justify our actions and those of our governments? What is art and why does it matter? By facing questions like these, we can hone highly transferable skills in abstract and structured reasoning.

This course is appropriate for new students.
