POLT 110 - Revolution, Socialism and Reform in China

We begin with a chronological overview, from the Qing and its demise through the Republic and the radical state socialist decades ending 1978. Then we proceed topically, focusing on: ideology, politics and the state, political economy, gender, population, environment, and cultural politics. Written work consists of two take-home, open-book essays, and weekly blogs.

This course is appropriate for new students.
