The personal narrative takes many forms and exists in a variety of media. It can be both intimate and public, personal and political. At its heart is a brave, unflinching, creative exploration of the self. In this course, we will examine personal narrative work by diverse film- and media-makers, and then you will produce your own personal narratives in a range of media and styles. Although we will review basic camera, lighting, sound, editing, and other media-making skills, we will emphasize composition, structure, and the quality of your personal inquiry over the use of any particular technology or device.
