ARST 131 - Introduction to Sculpture: Design & Fabrication
FCARHUPRAX4 credits In this course, we will discuss and create work in three-dimensional space using paper, cardboard, plastics, wood, organic material, found objects, sound, and light. We will explore concepts around materiality, objectness, risk and certainty, nature, and the utilization of space. Weekly homework assignments will expand upon classroom projects. Required forms of participation include critiques, weekly discussions, reading assignments, and a presentation. Students should expect to spend 4-6 hours per week outside of class to meet the minimum requirements. Field trip(s) required.
