ARST 133 - Introduction to Wood Sculpture

This course introduces students to wood as both material and method, offering a broad exploration of its possibilities in sculpture. Beginners will gain hands-on experience with basic woodworking techniques in both traditional and digital fabrication, working primarily in the Fabrication Lab. Alongside technical skill-building, students will research related concepts and experiment with creative approaches to using wood in contemporary art. The course also encourages incorporating other media in combination with wood, supporting interdisciplinary exploration.

This course is appropriate for new students.
