A close reading of Karl Marx’s Das Kapital. This classic of political economy, sociology, history, and indeed literature is worth reading at any time for what it can teach us about capitalism and also about dialectics. Since Das Kapital is a theory of the inner workings and crisis tendencies of capitalism, it is all the more pertinent now that existing economic models and theories are failing.

This course is appropriate for new students.
