AAST 108 - Preserving Cultural and Institutional Memory: Archival Research in Africana StudiesFC ARHU CD 4 credits This course introduces students to archival research, emphasizing how archives preserve cultural and historical memory. Students will learn key research skills, including accessing, analyzing, and ethically interpreting archival materials, with guidance on the IRB process for community-based research. Through lectures, workshops, and hands-on work with collecting archival materials, students will apply their learning to a group project that strengthens both in-person and online archives. This coursework will enhance the historical legacy of Afrikan Heritage House and document the evolving narrative of Africana Studies and the broader college community.
