FCARHUCDWINT4 credits Everything happens somewhere. This course will analyze those “somewheres” within American religious history, including places of worship but also a range of other public and private spaces. Using historical and contemporary case studies, we will explore how diverse religious communities have claimed space in the United States, how spatial dynamics have shaped religious life, and how space has factored into public discussions of religion. Students will develop tools of spatial analysis and complete their own research project related to the themes of the course.
