ARST 871 - Intro to Physical Narratives: Reimagining 2D Through Materiality

This entry-level course redefines two-dimensional image making by shifting the focus from conventional media to the tactile qualities of physical materials. Students will engage in experimental projects that incorporate collage, found objects, and innovative material arrangements and assemblage to build unique surface textures. This course encourages a hands-on, exploratory approach that fosters critical thinking and creative expression. Through collaborative studio sessions and reflective critique, participants will learn to craft visual narratives that challenge and expand the traditional boundaries of 2D art.
