DANC 230 - Lifelong Motion: Dance, Aging, and CommunityFC ARHU 4 credits This course invites students into an intergenerational process that centers aging, community, and collaboration. Through movement-based workshops with residents at Kendal at Oberlin, students explore dance as a vehicle for connection, storytelling, and lifelong creativity. Emphasizing community-based practices, the course cultivates inclusive, adaptive approaches to contemporary dance and challenges ageist and ableist narratives. Students will generate, rehearse, and reflect on original choreography shaped by shared experiences. This course provides a unique opportunity to investigate how dance fosters agency, empathy, and expression across generations through meaningful creative engagement. This course can be repeated once for credit.
Community-Based Learning This course is appropriate for new students.
