GSFS 300 - The Civil Rights Movement RevisitedFC SSCI CD 4 credits In this course, we will use Jacqueline Dowd Hall’s framework of the Long Civil Rights Movement to examine civil rights activism and organizing from the 1930s until the 1980s. Doing so, we will examine the context for the development of the Civil Rights Movement and co-current organizers, such as the Farm Workers Movement, the Black Panther Party and Black Power Movement, the Young Lords Party and the Chicano Movement, and the anti-war movement.
This course is appropriate for new students. This course is cross-listed with CAST-300
