SOCI 328 - Mapping Inequality: Spatial Thinking in SociologyFC SSCI CD QFR 4 credits This course examines how social phenomena shape-and are shaped by-the spaces and places in which they occur. Combining urban sociology scholarship with geographic information systems (GIS) and spatial analysis tools, we will explore key sociological issues such as racial residential segregation, gentrification, health disparities, and environmental justice. The course introduces students to software such as QGIS, GeoDa, and Social Explorer, and provides hands-on training in acquiring, managing, visualizing, and analyzing geo-spatial data.
