INST 100 - Introduction to Sport Studies and Management

This course will enable students to develop a foundational understanding of Sport Studies and Management. Emphasis is placed on three areas of study, to enable students to examine sport through an interdisciplinary approach and explore social phenomena through a sport lens. These areas of study include 1) Discourse, Communication, and Journalism, 2) Business, Management, and Analytics, and 3) Education, Health, and Performance. Students will complete a practical project to explore each of these areas of students. Students will also engage in a community-based learning project that will familiarize them with the community of sport organizations in Northeast Ohio. Field trip(s) required.
