CHIN 403 - Contemporary ChinaFC ARHU CD 4 credits This course is designed for advanced students of Chinese who have completed at least three years of college-level Chinese study or possess equivalent proficiency. Through the use of authentic materials and innovative pedagogical methods, the course examines major aspects of contemporary Chinese society and culture. Topics include social media and popular culture (such as 抖音 [Douyin/TikTok]), employment and job search practices, real estate and housing issues, education, and other current social developments. Conducted entirely in Chinese, the course emphasizes advanced language skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing while fostering a deeper understanding of the cultural and societal dynamics shaping modern China.
Prerequisites: CHIN 302 or the equivalent.
