Declaring the Minor


  • The minor is open to all students earning a Bachelor of Music degree.
  • The student must be recommended by their private study teacher.
  • The student must be approved by the organ department, after at least two semesters of secondary study.

Performance: Organ Minor Non-Course Requirements


  • First Minor Committee Examination
    • administered after two semesters of secondary private study
    • consists of the preparation of a hymn and the performance of a standard piece of organ repertoire; the repertoire performance may be presented in a studio class or departmental recital
  • Second Minor Committee Examination
    • administered after four semesters of secondary private study
    • consists of the preparation of a hymn and the performance of a standard piece of organ repertoire; the repertoire performance may be presented in a studio class or departmental recital
  • Departmental Recital Appearance or Ad Hoc Recital
