Jazz Performance Major: Jazz Voice Concentration

The jazz performance major: jazz voice concentration consists of a minimum of 160 credits, a private study committee examination requirement, and a performance requirement.
Note: No credit with a grade lower than D may be counted toward the requirements of the concentration.

- APST 110 may be replaced with two credits of PVST 078 with the approval of the student’s advisor, studio faculty, or division director.
- Jazz performance students must audition for jazz ensembles at the start of each academic year. The jazz studies faculty will place students into large jazz ensembles.
- JAZZ 290 and JAZZ 291 count as eight of the 32 credits of liberal arts elective courses required for the Bachelor of Music degree.
Jazz Forum
Student-formed small ensembles perform each week for one another and offer critical, constructive feedback. The events are open to the public, and attendance is required of all jazz composition and jazz performance majors. Detailed Major Requirements

Large Jazz Ensemble Elective Courses

- JAZZ 703 may be counted as a large jazz ensemble or a small jazz ensemble elective course.
Small Jazz Ensemble Elective Courses

- Administered in the second semester of the first year by an examining committee composed of the jazz studies faculty.
