HIST 216 - European Socialisms and Post-SocialismsFC SSCI CD 4 credits The writings of Karl Marx inspired generations of Europeans to construct a society free from the scourges of capitalism. This course will examine the attempts to realize socialism ranging from Parisian communards in the 1870s to Eastern European bureaucrats in the 1970s. We will also explore how post-socialist societies and economies dealt with the legacies of socialism.
