HIST 335 - Seminar: Crusades - Contact and Conflict in the Mediterranean WorldFC SSCI CD WADV 4 credits This research seminar examines the European Crusades that took place between 1050 and 1450 in the eastern Mediterranean, the Iberian peninsula, France, and Germany. Using a wide range of sources from different religious, political, social, and economic viewpoints, students will learn what was at stake for the various player involved, from high-born armed pilgrims to merchants and moneylenders, and how the Crusades shaped European identity for centuries to come.
