HIST 310 - Marx and Marxism

This seminar examines one of the most important modern thinkers and his intellectual legacy. After spending a few weeks on an intensive analysis of Marx’s own work, we will explore later 20th-century interpretations of Marxism. Throughout this course, we will be concerned with the evolution of such concepts as class, ideology, political engagement, and capitalism. We will also investigate the relationship between Communist politics and the philosophical work of Marxists in the 20th century.
