FCARHUCD4 credits This course explores the poetry of one of Rome’s premier authors, Ovid. We will read selections of Ovid’s erotic verse and stories from his Metamorphoses. Students will review advanced grammar concepts and put them to use in their translations of his elegiac and epic works. Come for the stories, stay for the double-entendres, urbane poetry, and exploration of this poet who, in the words of a contemporary, was ‘too witty for his own good’ (and was exiled for it, gulp!).
