CHEM 323 - Materials ChemistryHC NSMA QFR 2 credits This course will provide an introduction to the chemistry of inorganic and organic materials, with an emphasis on how their properties can be understood based on their bonding and electronic structures. Synthetic strategies and methods of materials characterization, including X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy, will also be discussed. In covering these topics, we will discuss current literature on materials such as semiconductors, polymers, nanomaterials, and bioinspired materials with applications including batteries, solar cells, and sustainable plastics.
Prerequisites: CHEM 205 and CHEM 213.
