NSCI 339 - Developmental NeurobiologyFC NSMA 4 credits This course will explore how the nervous system arise and matures into its adult form. While this course will focus on the development and maturation of the vertebrate nervous system, we will utilize principals and examples from invertebrate neurodevelopment to examine common processes. Topics will include neural induction, polarity/segmentation, cell lineage and migration, axon guidance, cell death, synaptogenesis, and behavioral development. We will also examine current topics in neurodevelopment through reading primary literature. Recommended Preparation: BIOL 213.
Prerequisites: NSCI 201.
