PACE 317 - Psychology of Musical BehaviorsFC CNDP 4 credits In this course, students will explore the physical, social, emotional, musical, and cognitive development of music learners neonatal through adulthood. Topics for discussion will include: accommodating instruction for exceptional learners; music perception and cognition; (music) psychology and learning theories and their applications to teaching and learning; developmental characteristics of music learners; music and the brain; multiple intelligences; creativity; musical skill acquisition; and methods of assessing achievement, aptitude, and ability. For undergraduate students in the Conservatory, musical studies majors, and/or any College students interested in exploring developmental issues (psychological/cognitive, social, musical, and affective) related to engaging “students”, neonatal through older adulthood, with music.
