POLT 225 - U.S. Foreign Policy and the Anti-Apartheid Movement

This course considers theories and practices of: African apartheids, collaboration across countries by anti-apartheid activists; NATO’s role protecting white African regimes (Angola, Mozambique, Namibia, Rhodesia, and South Africa); the roles of Cuba, China, and the USSR regarding apartheid; the U.S. Congress and presidents JFK to GHW Bush and Africa; the “front-line states” and the UN; and two Oberlin College anti-apartheid African leaders–John Dube and Eduardo Mondlane.
