POLT 288 - Constitutional Law: Separation of PowersFC SSCI 4 credits This course is designed to familiarize students with key concepts and developments in constitutional law within the United States. This course will explore doctrinal development based on landmark decisions by the U.S. Supreme Court in areas involving legislative authority, separation of powers, federalism, the commerce clause, eminent domain, and due process. Attention will also be devoted to presidential powers both domestically and in foreign affairs. Class debates and fact pattern responses will help students to sharpen their understanding of the way in which judicial interpretation affects the balance of powers among the branches of government.
Prerequisites: one course in American politics.
