CMPL 301 - Representations of Trauma in Film and Literature
FCARHUCDWADV4 credits This course surveys literary and cinematic representations of trauma around the world. In considering trauma theories, we do close readings of a selection of texts and think about representability and ethical responsibility of extreme human experiences. The course explores the following themes of trauma: race and ethnicity, gender and sexuality, war violence, and political violence. The texts studied in class include Euro-American, Latino, and East Asian film and literature.
